John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions through his songs of pop-folk and many of them inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a native of New Mexico. artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's songs that he sang about his adopted state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said it was because John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. In the year 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Today, he is the face of Colorado on the world stage. People you meet in other countries, like New Zealanders. They ask them "I come originally from Colorado" then they instantly react by saying Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short stint in small folk bands. Danoff created the track with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized it was destined to be an instant hit. The song was recorded just a few weeks after that Washington D.C. performance.
